Online Dating Study
Welcome to the Department of Communication Arts' Social Media Lab, and thank you for your interest in this study! Prof. Catalina Toma and her research team are currently seeking participants for a study about how online daters create their profiles and how they interpret other daters' profiles. You are invited to participate in this study if:
1. You are an active member of an online dating service that requires you to construct an online profile.
2. You have been an online dater for at least one month.
3. You are at least 18 years old.
The study has two main components.
First, we will email participants a link to an online survey about their online dating experiences. The survey will take about 45 minutes to complete. Participants will be able to fill out the survey on their own time, and at a location of their choice. Second, participants will be invited for a face-to-face interview with the research team. The interview will take place in Vilas Communications Hall, on the University-of-Wisconsin Madison campus, and will last 30-45 minutes.
Participants will be compensated with $30 cash. Please note that compensation will only be provided if participants complete all components of the study. Participants will also be responsible for arranging their own transportation to Vilas Hall.
If interested in this study, please fill out the form below. We will email you if you are selected to participate in this study.
If you have any questions, please contact Catalina Toma via email, dating@commarts.wisc.edu.
We greatly appreciate your time and interest! Thank you for your consideration of this project.
